According to the United Nations, the world must reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2050 in order to stave off a climate catastrophe. According to the Guardian, just 20 companies are responsible for a third of worldwide emissions. One of those companies is BP. In early 2020, BP announced its intention to "eliminate or offset all carbon emissions" by 2050—both from its own operations and from the oil and gas it sells to customers. Some say BP's shift is something other large-scale emitters should emulate, while some say BP is simply buying time and failing to act urgently. What do you think?
