Plus, it has a fancy wooden top. But others swear by the garlic-heavy flavor and paste-like texture of Sriracha, which has quickly morphed into something of an obsession for foodies. Cholula fans claim no recipe is complete without Cholula. It kicks every recipe up a notch with just the right balance of spice. Nothing comes close—just ask celebrity Matt Damon!

But for Sriracha fans, it isn't just a sauce—it's a lifestyle. For super-fans, Sriracha is as necessary as water; NASA even had to send packets of Sriracha into space to appease astronauts on the International Space Station. What other condiments command such loyalty?

Matthew Inman, the Seattle-based creator of the popular online comic strip The Oatmeal, had an epiphany while eating a bad meal during an overseas trip. “I realized that sriracha could ‘save’ food, and that it was this unsung Mother Teresa of condiments,” he says. So Inman drew a comic of a smiling man hugging an overturned bottle of sriracha meant to look like Huy Fong’s. “Sriracha, you are a delicious blessing flavored with the incandescent glow of a thousand dying suns,” reads the caption. “I love you.”
