Everything looks different in 2020, including AP testing. AP, or "Advanced Placement," classes are college-level courses taught in high school. Students prepare all year for their AP exams, and in some cases, a passing score on the College Board exam means that student will earn college credit for the same course. Since coronavirus prevents students from gathering at schools or testing centers to take what would have been hours-long exams, the tests have been condensed and administered online. Some think this change in process makes the exams unfair, especially given that not everyone has access to internet, let alone a quiet place to finish the exam. But the College Board sees online tests as its only solution—otherwise students' year of studying goes down the drain when it comes to snagging college credit. Are the 2020 AP exams fair?
