The NAACP recently issued a national travel advisory warning African Americans about traveling on American Airlines. The announcement came amidst a pattern of "troublesome conduct" suggesting "possible racial bias" on the part of the airline. Many have applauded the NAACP's decision and have proposed boycotting American Airlines all together. The NAACP recently issued a national travel advisory warning African Americans about American Airlines.

“The NAACP for several months now has been monitoring a pattern of disturbing incidents reported by African-American passengers, specific to American Airlines. In light of these confrontations, we have today taken the action of issuing national advisory alerting travelers—especially African Americans—to exercise caution, in that booking and boarding flights on American Airlines could subject them disrespectful, discriminatory or unsafe conditions. This travel advisory is in effect beginning today, October 24, 2017, until further notice."

The nation's "original and largest social justice advocacy group" went on to list a series of incidents involving African-American passengers and American Airlines staff that led President and CEO Derrick Johnson to claim the incidents suggest "racial bias" and "an unacceptable corporate culture" on the part of the airline.

The NAACP cited the following incidents as evidence of a disturbing pattern at American Airlines:

Many have shared personal stories about racist incidents involving American Airlines.

Others are encouraging people to boycott American Airlines all together.

But others think the NAACP's decision to label the airline racist is unfair, and just another example of the group playing the "race card."
