Are you living in an alternate dimension?

Ever get the feeling like reality took a sharp left somewhere along the way? From our unusual president to Brexit to the Cubs in the 2016 World Series, to the so-called Mandela Effect, signs are everywhere that you might be living a very long episode of "Sliders." Or, it could be this is the same reality; it's just an extremely weird time to be alive. Do you belong here?

Ever since the Large Hadron Collider*—the world's biggest particle accelerator—was first used, people have wondered if it could cause shifts in reality.

Back on Earth-Prime, is Hillary Clinton or even Bernie Sanders the president? Over there, is Idris Elba the new James Bond? Beyond the so-called "Berenstein Bears" or the supposedly shifting location of Sri Lanka; how on any Earth can we have a reality TV star, billionaire white nationalist apologist, possible Russian assetwho openly mocks the disabled and never held office—for a president? Never mind "not my president," this is clearly not our planet.

"CERN’s research captures the imagination of lots of people, which is why CERN has been featured in a lot of science fiction books, even movies, around the world,” a spokesperson for CERN told CNBC when asked about the Trump theory.“These imaginative works, inspired by our scientific research, are works of fiction generated to capture the reader or viewer’s sense of wonder and should not be confused with the actual scientific research."

If "Fringe" and "Doctor Who" have taught us anything, alternate realities are covered in airships. Look outside now. Do you see a mass of steampunk dirigibles? No? There you go.
